1. What is the difference between a home health agency and a non-medical home care agency?
-
Non-medical home care is care for people needing assistance with ADLs (activities of daily living). These activities may include trips to the doctor, showering, toileting, reminders to take the right medication at the right time, meal preparation, light housekeeping, errands, shopping, and Alzheimer’s or dementia care. The goal is to find a companion that the senior will feel safe with.
-
Home Health is providing medical services in the home, such as nursing services, physical therapy, or other professional medical services such as wound care and occupational therapy.
-
Hospice care is giving supportive care to people in the final phase of a terminal illness. The focus of Hospice care is to give comfort and higher quality of life, rather than attempting to cure. This allows client/patients to be pain free and comfortable for their final days. Typically Hospice care is provided as Home Health care, but typically a Non-Medical home care provide can work together to provide the best outcome for client/patients.
